What is suspended particulates matter 2.5 and 10 in environment?

What is suspended particulates matter 2.5 and 10 in environment?

Particulates matter is also known as suspended particulate matter as they are micro solids or liquids that are suspended in the atmosphere.

Different particulates matter in the different form is usually present in atmosphere.

Particulates matter is naturally found in the atmosphere in the form of dust, soot, sand, smoke, pollen, and fly ash etc.

The size of common particulates matter varies from 0.0002 microns to 500 microns. Depending on their size, there are two types of particular matters are known.

What are the effects of air pollution on human health and environment?

What are the effects of air pollution on human health and environment?

Various gaseous substances like SO2, CO, H2S, NO2, ozone, chlorine, hydrocarbon and particulates matter etc. enter the air due to various natural and man-made causes and pollute the air.

This polluted air has a devastating effect on human and the environment.
The harmful effects of air pollution on humans and the environment are discussed below.

Sulfur dioxide (SO2)

This is the most harmful gaseous primary pollutant. Sulfur dioxide is a highly harmful substance in both the environment and the living world. So the effects of air pollution for SO2 are very significant.

What are the 10 causes of air pollution in environmental chemistry?

What are the 10 causes of air pollution in environmental chemistry?

Air pollution arises due to presence of different gaseous substance such as, NO, NO2, SO2, CO2, H2S, NH3, CH4, chlorine, dust particle, smoke, hydrocarbons etc in the air.

There are different causes of air pollution. The entire causes of air pollution are divided into two categories. These two causes of air pollution are,

  • Natural causes of air pollution and
  • Man-made causes of air pollution

There are main 10 causes of air pollution that occur due natural and man-made causes are discussed below.

10 causes of air pollution

  •  The gaseous substances SO2, H2S, CO etc emit due to volcanic eruption and enter into the atmosphere that cause of air pollution.

  • The various gaseous substances those are produced by the decomposition of the organism are entered into the air and cause air pollution.

What is environmental pollution in chemistry?

What is environmental pollution in chemistry?

If a substance is present in more than normal amounts in the environment and adversely affects the normal life of the species or organism, then that substance is called pollutant, and this process is called environmental pollution.

Pollution is the introduction of pollutants into the environment that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living things or damage the environment.

Contaminants can be any naturally occurring substance or energy. However, its levels are considered to be contaminants due to excess.

What is pollutant in environmental science?

Pollutant is a substance produced either by a natural source or human activity which has an adverse effect on the environment, that is, which causes environmental pollution.

What are the harmful effects of acid rain on humans in chemistry?

What are the harmful effects of acid rain on humans in chemistry?

The effects of acid rain on humans are the most important matter among the things that are affected by acid rain

Acid rain has a catastrophic impact on humans directly as well as indirectly. Acid rain causes accident directly leading to injuriesand death.

The dry depositions of gaseous of particulates in the air such as, SO2, NO2 can cause serious health problem when inhaled.

Acid rain has a harmful effect on the human nervous system, respiratory and digestive system.

Because of acid rain, the acidification of drinking water reservoir increases along with heavy metal that release acid rain.

If these acid contaminants drinking water enter into the human body then, it will have an adverse effect on health.

Severe level of acid deposition in the dry form in atmosphere can cause lung and heart problems such as, bronchitis, asthma etc.

The pH level of aquatic environment drops down from the specific level due to acid rain. This lower pH value can kill fish.

What are the harmful effects of acid rain on humans in chemistry?

People eat these fish knowingly or unknowingly and hence affected indirectly by acid rain. So, it is an effect of acid rain on human’s health.

Since acid rain contains sulfuric acid, nitric acid hence it causes skin irritation.
Again, due to acid rain, the acidity of soil change.

Now, the sensitive soil microorganisms that can’t adapt with this change and hence are killed.
