What are the various sources of carbon dioxide emissions?

 

Introduction

In fact, carbon dioxide gas is not considered as an air pollutant. However, huge amounts of carbon dioxide gas entering the atmosphere from different sources cause climate change.

As a result, carbon dioxide also causes environmental pollution. So carbon dioxide is also a polluting gas.

Combustion of fossil fuels, decomposition of carbonates and biological decay are the main source of carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere.

Combustion of fossil fuels is the easiest and cheapest way to produce the energy needed for various industries or vehicles. Notable among these fossil fuels are coal, mineral oil, wood (forest fires, domestic fuel) etc.

 

The main source of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is various natural and man-made causes.

But the important thing is that all of these natural and man-made causes are related to the combustion of fossil fuels.

 

Carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles

At present, a large number of vehicles have grown in various developed and developing countries of the world.

Combustion of various fossil fuels such as petrol, diesel, etc. in these vehicles causes huge amounts of carbon dioxide emissions that enter the atmosphere in the form of smoke.  

Huge amounts of carbon dioxide gas from motor vehicles and industrial plants directly enter the atmosphere, creating a ring of carbon dioxide gas around the earth.

 

Carbon dioxide emission from metallurgical industry

In the metallurgical industry, large amounts of carbon dioxide are produced during the production of metals and released into the atmosphere.

There are also various industrial plants in which huge amounts of carbon dioxide enter the atmosphere in the form of smoke as a result of combustion of different fossil fuels.

 

Carbon dioxide from incineration of agricultural wastes

Complete combustion of agricultural waste also causes huge amounts of carbon dioxide gas to enter the atmosphere in the form of smoke.

For example, the burning of agricultural wastes in the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, etc. releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in the form of smoke.

As a result, the weather in the capital Delhi changed drastically.

 

Carbon dioxide emission from natural phenomena

The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere also increases due to various natural causes. Such as volcanic eruptions, forest fires, etc.

 

Carbon dioxide from other sources

There are many other sources from which carbon dioxide is emitted and enters the atmosphere.

Such as, in case of extraction of mineral oil, from thermal power plant, MSW burning, cremation, domestic sources, hotel and restaurants etc.

 

What do mean by reducing CO2?

Carbon dioxide is not directly considered as an air pollutant. But global climate change continues to occur due to the presence of excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

So this extra carbon dioxide in the atmosphere needs to be reduced. In various processes we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This carbon dioxide is called reducing CO2.

 

The only green plant absorbs carbon dioxide gas. They produce food in the process of photosynthesis in the presence of water and sunlight.

 

As a result, the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is reduced. So we have to plant a large number of trees. Carbon dioxide needs to be recycled using advanced technology.

Some carbon dioxide is dissolved in seawater. But global warming has also reduced the amount of carbon dioxide dissolved in seawater.

Hence global warming must be reduced to increase the absorption of carbon dioxide by sea water. As a result of all these initiatives, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can be greatly reduced.

Also the use of carbon dioxide in different cases also reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to some extent. Several uses of carbon dioxide in different fields are discussed below.

Carbonic acid is not found in pure form. Carbonic acid is prepared by dissolving carbon dioxide in water.

Carbon dioxide is also used to make compounds such as metallic carbonate, bicarbonate, urea, ammonium carbonate, ammonium sulfate etc.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide is hardened and used as dry ice. Again liquid carbon dioxide is used to harden steel.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide is also used to make soda water and in medical science for treatment. The use of all these cases also reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
