What are the harmful effects of acid rain on humans in chemistry?

The effects of acid rain on humans are the most important matter among the things that are affected by acid rain

Acid rain has a catastrophic impact on humans directly as well as indirectly. Acid rain causes accident directly leading to injuriesand death.

The dry depositions of gaseous of particulates in the air such as, SO2, NO2 can cause serious health problem when inhaled.

Acid rain has a harmful effect on the human nervous system, respiratory and digestive system.

Because of acid rain, the acidification of drinking water reservoir increases along with heavy metal that release acid rain.

If these acid contaminants drinking water enter into the human body then, it will have an adverse effect on health.

Severe level of acid deposition in the dry form in atmosphere can cause lung and heart problems such as, bronchitis, asthma etc.

The pH level of aquatic environment drops down from the specific level due to acid rain. This lower pH value can kill fish.

People eat these fish knowingly or unknowingly and hence affected indirectly by acid rain. So, it is an effect of acid rain on human’s health.

Since acid rain contains sulfuric acid, nitric acid hence it causes skin irritation.
Again, due to acid rain, the acidity of soil change.

Now, the sensitive soil microorganisms that can’t adapt with this change and hence are killed.

High soil acidity also denatures enzyme of soil microbes. In the same way, H+ ion of acid rain leach away vital minerals and nutrients such as, Ca, Mg etc.

As a result, the production of harvest is not good. Consequently, man faces the economic problem which is also an effect of acid rain on humans.

Acid rain has a deadly effect on forest. It damages a forest partially or some time completely on that affected area. Now, many people depend on forest for their livelihood.

Consequently, such people suffer from food and many others important things that we get from forest become unavailable. These are also one type of effect of acid rain humans.

Acid rain has a catastrophic effect on man-made building, architecture, monument etc. Modern building, pipes etc those are constructed with lime stone, react with acid of acid rain.

As a result, modern building, pipes including cars, airplane, steel bridge, old heritage building are damaged. Consequently, man has to face a big economic problem.
